[PHOTOS] 2011.8.12 | Club Retro-SF | FIGHTING THE VILLAIN, DISGUST OF US, THE LIGHT IRIS
AJAPOPFILMS is at the HQ Putting the sweet patented sauce on Seeking Emprie‘s debut music video. Keep abreast for that AND a special rare live performance 8.27.11 at Bottom of the Hill. Its a Saturday night. Do not miss it. It will be hella meta. Remember last time? it was sold out and we expect a repeat. Check out the video-flyer we released.
When AJAPOPFILMS is not making videos we also enjoy shooting photos of the local bands here in the Bay Area. Nikki and Alan from Seeking Empire, myself along with Leo from Those Charming Crooks visited brand new venue Club Retro-SF to see Fighting the Villain and our longtime dear friends Disgust of Us (YOU MUST LISTEN TO THEM, TRUST ME. CLICK IT). Honestly the venue was huge surprise. Its basically a gigantic multi-storied warehouse in a primo downtown San Francisco location. Not at all far from the BART. From the bands hosted and venue its kinda like 924 Gilman and the Oakland Metro got together, grew up and had a baby, raised it in San Ramon then the kid left to find itself in the City but still calls home and has dinner there every Friday – not sure if that made sense, but if you did,
. Its new and never been done before and I hope it launches well. Its also great to hear new sounds in the SF clubs. Here’s some photos. You can catch the full set on the Flickers HERE OW!
Thanks for reading. Ajapop will now go back to clicking and scrubbing tirelessly. I’ve seriously developed quite the trigger finger with all this editing and sore thumbs from tweeting and mobile facebooking. Keep track of AJAPOPFILMS there. We’ll watch you later.
Love,

FOJC playing LIVE at the 34th Haight-Ashbury Street Fair. This was an AMAZING SHOOT. I love working with FOJC. Alicia, Victor, Allen, the dancers – all so ferocious. I wish I could have made this an hour long movie. Hopefully we’ll get them uploaded and shared. I hope you guys have added me to the facebooks. We’re still getting offers on new projects and your brand or whatever is more than welcome to inquire.

[PHOTOS] PulsewaveSF | DNA Lounge 2011.7.7
PulsewaveSF is a collaboration of efforts between the original Pulsewave in NYC and 8bitSF to bring their audience the best in chipmusic today. I like to call it “bleepy-bloops vid-game music with GameBoys and Nintendos sounds” and they do bleepy-bloops real good! These shows are great to shoot and I LOVE the DNA Lounge so I got together with my good friends and shot the hell out of it again. Some highlights of the show are below. Here’s the full set: Flickr for AJAPOPFILMS.
Video coming soon!

Cat-girl and luchadore-girl. 'Heard was a giraffe-girl somewhere but I couldn't find her. You'd think something like that would be easy to spot.
When not working on photos, AJAPOPFLMS is working on new videos to debut. Keep in touch on facebook and twitter for updates my darlings.

[PHOTOS + VIDEO] Quest Coast Tour Impressions by AJAPOPFILMS
So, its been a week and some days since coming back from tour with The Glowing Stars and Crashfaster and its been non-stop photo and video editing since then. I’m really proud to have contributed some exclusive bonus video content to their wickedly cool re-purposed and reusable Game Boy cart EP Anything Past That which is released today. I think all the pre-sale Game Boy carts are sold out but they might have some at their show tonight at the DNA Lounge. Download at http://theglowingstars.bandcamp.com/
Watching these videos so far and logging them for hours takes me back to when the tour-Suburban was hot and flesh stuck to vinyl. Comforting air swept in and out of hand-cranked windows. Truly special and unique moments existed outside of iPhone addictions. There was a whole lot of cursing and laughter caught on camera to re-live forever in the streams. The allure of the open road and new strange characters was too much of a romance to let go and I’ve been hungry for more ever since. Cities other than my own became cramped and stale and if only for a week I could dive into a different paradigm even a few degrees off from San Francisco to breathe different air it would be an awakening new and refreshing exhale. Or, I just need to go on more vacations.
After the Glowing Stars recorded a Jonathan Mann songaday song. We’re treated to a special acoustic version of Got it Bad.

Quest Coast Tour posse in downtown Seattle. Matt + Lizzie of The Glowing Stars, Morgan – crashfaster and AJAPOPFILMS

Seattle – Lizzie cut her finger and bled all over her fuckin’ guitar.

Basement show in Portland. One of the best nights ever.
This small adventure was a quest in itself. One of the many I have taken part and the a precursor of more to come. A very special thank you to the Quest Coast posse for having me on tour. There will be more content coming from AJAPOPFILMS so watch out!

Fans of Jimmy Century | Electronic Dancerock Hustlers
We bring you the live video for Fans of Jimmy Century. Electro-disco music with dancing and a monster light show. Things are hot right now as they’ve got another produced music video on the way from director Billy Clift (its really good). Their tracks have been in all kinda of media like a threesome scene in the L Word. I’ve met these guys with Nikki a while back at the Uptown in Oakland-one of my favorite venues in the East Bay. The music was disco as fu__ and it left me speechless, utterly UTTERLY. It was my mission from all my female popstar homies to share them to the world. They’re debuting a brand new show at the Haight St. Fair June 12th. Hot. Steamy. Summer. Love.

Robot De Niro | Live Party Video at Manor West
Robot De Niro, clever name! I’m kinda obsessed with it now but its a fitting title for these electro hip-hop ballers. I’ve never done a club video yet but it suits my style pretty damn well. It’ll only get better. Hit me up for all kind of promo video gigs at Don’t for get to “like us” too! More to come!
Melanie and myself enjoying ourselves in the ruckus.
